Je suis un ancĂȘtre
Why not, as Napoleon said, "Je suis un ancĂȘtre?" But isn't this the erroneous egotism of the self made man? It is in many ways the verbal embodiment of the American Spirit. It is the utter rejection of the social contract. As the Great Depression turtle headed in the final days of the 1920's, President Hoover argued to balance the budget. Here was a bootstrap man, no? Now don't get me wrong, this man was no Bush. He was a Progressive and a reformer. He advocated a volunteer army. But I digress. It is this sentiment that I call into question. Is it not the man with the biggest house who most needs the fireman?
